A bed & breakfast amidst the historic Civil War battlefield in Sharpsburg, Maryland.

Welcome to the Inn at Antietam, a warm and welcoming bed and breakfast in the heart of Sharpsburg, Maryland. Innkeepers Miriam & Will Cunningham look forward to having you stay at the number one TripAdvisor Traveler Ranked bed and breakfast in Sharpsburg and one of the top three B&Bs in Maryland.

The Inn at Antietam is currently closed in an over abundance of caution and to help flatten the curve.  We are continuously monitoring what the State of Maryland, CDC, the WHO, and the US Federal Government are doing to help contain the spread.  We will see if we have to extend the closure.

For those who have reservations, please call or email us to either cancel or alter the dates of your reservation.

We are still taking reservations for later in the year and you can do by calling us directly: 301-432-6601

Please note that as of March 17, 2020:

The Antietam National Battlefield VISITOR’S CENTER is closed indefinitely.
  The battlefield does remain open.

The Antietam National Battlefield and National Cemetery surround the Inn and honor those who fought here on September 17, 1862. In what became the bloodiest single-day battle ever fought in the U.S. and the first major battle to be fought on Union soil, Major General George McClellan narrowly defeated General Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia. This “victory” claimed a very steep price: more than 22,000 soldiers were killed, wounded, or missing at the day’s end. Towns near the line of fire were turned into army hospitals overnight. The battle, though, offered President Abraham Lincoln an opportunity to issue the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation which went into effect on January 1, 1863.

Come and and explore Civil War history in the local area: see the battlefields, town hospitals and various sights of war in Sharpsburg, Shepherdstown, South Mountain, Harpers Ferry, Gettysburg, and Monocacy. Not your thing? Then hunt for marvelous antiques in Frederick or Hagerstown; hike or cycle the C&O Canal; float the Potomac River or Antietam Creek; taste the local wineries from Big Cork or Antietam Creek Vineyards; or take to the slopes in White Tail.  You can do it all while staying at the Inn at Antietam!

We welcome families, couples, and dogs! We also have a super charger available for guests who drive a Tesla or other electric vehicle.
