Meet the Innkeepers

Greetings! We’re Miriam & Will Cunningham, and we’re the owners and innkeepers (supported by our dog Hamish) at The Inn at Antietam.

Originally from Kentucky, Miriam moved to DC to attend graduate school in history. Will was born in England, grew up in Scotland, and moved to the USA after he finished university. World Cup soccer and a mutual friend brought them together, leading to an English country wedding in 2009. Before both working at the Inn full time, Miriam worked for a few non-profits in the history and foreign relations fields and Will worked as a program director for a small technology & events firm.

We moved to Sharpsburg from Washington, DC, after living in the city for more than twenty years. After taking ownership of the Inn in 2016, we carefully and thoughtfully renovated each of the well-appointed suites and the public spaces–doing most of the work ourselves.  The Inn is decorated to reflect our love for traveling, history, fun mobiles, and plants.  We hope you will enjoy a lovely cup of tea (or bourbon!) on the wrap-around porch while chatting with us and other guests.

We live on the third floor of the Inn–what some would call the attic—making our “commute” to work just a simple walk downstairs.  We love what we do here: baking and cooking, talking and visiting, and providing a warm and comfortable place to stay for our guests.  We look forward to welcoming you to the Inn at Antietam.
